We’ve given these vegetarian tamales a unique and gourmet twist by pairing humble black beans with smoked cheese and blue corn masa. Blue corn has less starch and 20 - 30% more protein than white or yellow corn. We make our tamales in the traditional way, and our masa is always perfectly moist, and in just the right ratio to the filling. The delicious smoked cheese we use is freshly made by Spring Hill Cheese in Petaluma. To tie it all together, jalapeños give these tamales a gentle spice.
We recommend topping these tamales with our Roasted Tomatillo Salsa. The tanginess of the roasted tomatillo perfectly complements these savory, smoky gourmet tamales.
Our tamales are vegetarian, gluten-free, non-GMO and certified organic. To keep our tamales free from pesticides and GMOs, we use food-grade paper wrappers. Our tamales will arrive frozen and keep for up to one year in the freezer.
